MACHINE SAFETY – EN 60204

Electrical Equipment of Machines EN 60204:
According to EN 60204, various electrical tests must be conducted to ensure the safety of electrical machines and installations. These include the following measurements:

  1. Insulation Resistance Measurement: This test is conducted to verify the insulation integrity of electrical connections and components. It measures whether the insulation resistance between the live parts and the protective conductor or between the live parts and the enclosure is sufficiently high.
  2. Protective Conductor Resistance Measurement: This test checks the resistance of the protective conductor to ensure that it has a sufficiently low resistance to provide a safe path for current flow in case of a fault.
  3. Protective Conductor Current Measurement: This test measures the current flowing through the protective conductor to ensure that it is within permissible limits.
  4. Functional Test: This test verifies the proper functioning of electrical components and protective devices to ensure they operate as intended.
  5. Earth Resistance Measurement: This test measures the resistance between the grounding system and the earth to ensure proper grounding.
  6. Protective Conductor Impedance Measurement: This test measures the impedance of the protective conductor to ensure it has a sufficiently low resistance to provide a safe path for current flow in case of a fault.
  7. Dielectric Strength Test: This test checks the insulation strength of electrical connections and components by applying a higher voltage than the rated voltage to ensure there are no breakdowns or insulation faults.

It is important to conduct these tests regularly to identify and prevent potential hazards.
